I spent quite a bit of time considering this grill, and ultimately, getting to use it at the American Fire anniversary party in 2025 solidified my decision. I previously used a Traeger Ironwood 885 (for sale) , which was a very capable smoker, but my primary motivation for this upgrade was to have a dedicated grill in addition to a smoker. The Recteq Dualfire has proven to be the perfect solution.
The smoke side offers comparable space to the 885, while the grill side provides more than enough capacity for family and friend gatherings. In just a couple weeks, I've already completed several cooks, including a successful overnight session. Each experience has been exceptional.
What truly impressed me most is the significant volume of smoke this unit produces—it far surpasses the "SuperSmoke" setting on the Ironwood. In my opinion, it delivers a smoke quality on par with a stick burner. Furthermore, the grill side heats up remarkably fast. The standout feature is its ability to generate actual flames, allowing for that desirable char flavor on your food, all from convenient pellets.
I am highly satisfied with this purchase and eagerly anticipate many more years of outstanding cooks with this grill.
